Benton County Government

Benton County has a commissioner form of government. The county is divided into 6 court districts with a total of 18 magistrates who are elected for four-year terms. The County Executive is elected for a four-year term. The County Commission meets once monthly.

County Services:

Sheriff's Department:
14 full-time deputies with 15 fully equipped cars
6 jailers, 4 dispatchers
1 sheriff, elected every four years

Garbage Disposal: Benton County has a state of the art landfill. Benton Countians have the option of taking their garbage to the landfill themselves with free dumping, or having it picked up by one of the companies at a minimal fee.

Big Sandy Volunteer Fire Department
Class 8 (city) - 10 (outside city) insurance rating
1 station, 28 volunteers
1 pumper, 1000-gallon capacity
2 tankers, 250-gallon and 1,000 gallon

Holladay-McIllwain Volunteer Fire Department
Class 9 insurance rating
2 stations, 23 volunteers, 1 nurse
2 pumpers, 800 gallons each
1 tanker, 1000-gallon capacity

Eva Volunteer Fire Department
Class 8 insurance rating
1 station, 33 volunteers
2 pumpers, 1,000 GPM, 250 gallons per minute
2 tankers, 1,500 gallons each

Chalk Level Fire Department
Class 9 insurance rating
1 station, 45 volunteers
2 pumpers, 750 GPM
1 tanker, 1,250 gallons
